Hey there! My name is Dr. Griggs, it’s wonderful to meet you all! Having spent nearly all my life in Ohio, you may recognize me around Wilmington as the only one not wearing a winter coat in February!
During the majority of my time in undergrad at The University of Akron (in Akron, OH) you could find me singing and studying. I was a member of the college’s premier a cappella group, Nuance, where we had the privilege of performing for Michelle Obama and Lebron James, as well as competing in the ICCAs (and yes, at times it was very much like Pitch Perfect). I later went on to graduate with honors and received my Bachelor’s of Science degree with a major area of study in Biology and minor areas of study in Engineering and Statistics.
I must have quickly forgotten all those days I walked to class in the snowy, sub zero weather because a year later I started dental school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Throughout my four years there I held the position of Special Events Chair for the OSU American Student Dental Association as well as the position of President of the OSU Student Government Association, and I was a member of the Psi Omega dental fraternity.
When I’m not working or studying teeth, I love running, playing music, painting, traveling, skiing, and trying new things around Wilmington. (Surfing did not go well!)
While Ohio will always be first home, I am so thankful that Wilmington is my second. This community has been so incredibly welcoming and kind to me, it’s the least I can do to reciprocate the same! I look forward to meeting you soon!
I grew up in Holland, Michigan, with the dream of becoming a dentist from the age of 8. I moved down to Wilmington to go to UNCW and to get out of the snow. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Chemistry with a math minor. I then continued with my dental education at UNC-Chapel Hill, receiving my Doctorate of Dental Surgery with Honors in 2009. After graduating, I completed a General Practice Residency where I treated veterans at the Portland Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Oregon.
I have been lucky to make Wilmington my home for most of my adult life! My husband and I recently built a house where our two young boys, Leif and Thor, and our Australian Shepherd, Wilson, can grow up and run around. We spend a lot of time outside, gardening, raising bees, and digging in the dirt! When I’m not chasing my boys around, I also like playing beach volleyball and tennis! I must like chasing things! 🙂
I absolutely love caring for my patients of all ages and their overall health. My philosophy is practicing preventative, long-lasting dentistry with compassion and ease for all patients. I have been trained in all aspects of general dentistry and some advanced skills, including sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, and TMJ therapy. I believe that it is my duty to continue learning for my patients. I always try to enable my patients to reach their goals, whether they are to maintain health, to conquer a current problem or dental fear, or to help build more confidence. I like to provide comprehensive care to my patients which allows for long term healthy smiles and the ability for my patients to make their own decisions!
